“What Are You Looking At?” (Another photo of cows)

Remember when I said I thought cows were funny?

This is what I mean.

For a long time, it was a common occurrence for my wife and I to be driving somewhere on the highway when I would say, “I just want to pull over and take a photo of that.” Well, at the beginning of last year (the #yearigotserious) that became a regular practice.

I was on a back country road when I spotted these cows, their hind ends almost touching. As I approached, they had their heads down eating, and I knew I had just a moment to get the shot I wanted before they trotted off. I had spooked several sets of cows that day (Have I mentioned I love cows?) so I knew this had to be slow and deliberate.

I pulled over, got out of my car, walked maybe a handful of paces, and framed the image I wanted to capture.

Then I whistled.

I pressed the shutter button as soon as their heads popped up. Another few seconds and they were gone.

I love cows.
